Fresh tint looks its best after it cures—when install moisture evaporates and the adhesive settles. Smart window tint aftercare is simple: give it time, clean gently, and protect the edges so they stay tight.

Curing: What’s Normal, What’s Not

Right after install, a light haze or a few “water pockets” are normal. In warm, dry weather, curing typically takes 2–3 days; in cooler or humid conditions, plan for a week or more. Arizona heat can speed evaporation, but the adhesive still needs time to set—avoid rolling windows down until your installer’s recommended window (often 3–5 days). If haze lingers well past that, it’s worth a quick check.

First Cleans and Everyday Care

Wait until the film has fully cured before cleaning. Use an ammonia-free glass cleaner and a clean microfiber cloth with light pressure. Straight, gentle strokes keep edges tight; aggressive scrubbing—especially in corners—can lift the film. On the rear glass, wipe with the defroster lines, not across them.

Habits That Keep Tint Looking New

Think “gentle and predictable.” A soft squeegee is fine if you avoid pushing directly into borders. Skip blades, abrasive pads, and harsh solvents. If you’re clearing interior fog or winter frost, only scrape the exterior—the interior film can scratch easily. And if you love decals, place them on exterior surfaces; adhesives plus removal can stain or lift film over time.

Window Tint – What to Do When Something Looks Off

A small bubble during cure is normal; most disappear as moisture evaporates. Edge lifts usually come from rolling windows down too soon or cleaning too aggressively. Addressing small issues early prevents dust from creeping under the film and turning a minor touch-up into a full redo.

Want your tint to stay sharp for years, not months? Contact AGD for window tinting and aftercare advice – we’ll check edges, touch up problem spots, or refresh film with an option that fits your look and local laws.

laminated vs. tempered glassWhen it comes to vehicle safety, not all auto glass is created equal. Most cars are fitted with a combination of laminated and tempered glass, each serving a distinct purpose. But what’s the difference—and which is better for your vehicle?

Let’s take a closer look at how these two types of glass compare in terms of strength, safety, and function.

What Is Laminated Glass?

Laminated glass is typically used in windshields. It’s made by sandwiching a layer of plastic (usually polyvinyl butyral, or PVB) between two sheets of glass. This bonded structure holds together even when shattered, creating a “spider web” effect instead of sharp shards.

Benefits:

  • High safety rating – reduces risk of ejection in a crash

  • Sound insulation – blocks more outside noise

  • UV protection – filters harmful rays

  • Crack resistance – minor impacts may not cause full breakage

What Is Tempered Glass?

Tempered glass, used in side and rear windows, is created by heating and then rapidly cooling the glass, which increases its strength. When it breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pieces rather than dangerous shards.

Benefits:

  • Stronger than standard glass

  • Shatters safely on impact

  • Less expensive than laminated glass

  • Easy to replace

Laminated or Tempered Glass – Which One Is Better for Your Vehicle?

The answer depends on the location and purpose of the glass:

  • Windshields almost always use laminated glass for better visibility and safety.

  • Side and rear windows typically use tempered glass, but some newer models are switching to laminated for added protection against break-ins and noise.

If you’re considering upgrading or replacing auto glass, talk with a professional about your options. Depending on your driving habits and environment, it may be worth considering laminated side windows for added peace of mind.

AGD Can Help with Any Type of Auto Glass

Understanding the differences between laminated vs. tempered glass helps you make more informed decisions about your vehicle’s safety and comfort. Whether you’re replacing a broken window or just exploring options, choosing the right glass matters. Contact AGD for any of your auto glass needs, we’re here to help!

road tripIf you’re planning a road trip, the journey itself can be just as important as the destination. One often overlooked but crucial aspect of a comfortable road trip is the glass and tint in your car. Upgrading your car’s windows and tint not only boosts your vehicle’s aesthetic appeal but can also enhance your comfort and safety during those long hours on the road. Here’s how you can turn your car into a road trip oasis.

Road Trip 101: Start with the Right Window Tint

When you’re on the road for extended periods, exposure to sunlight can be draining. Window tint helps block harmful UV rays while keeping your car’s interior cool. This reduces the temperature inside the cabin, making it more comfortable for passengers and preventing your upholstery and dashboard from fading.

  • UV Protection: Reduces the risk of skin damage from prolonged sun exposure.

  • Improved Comfort: Keeps the cabin cooler during hot weather, saving on air conditioning.

  • Energy Efficiency: Reduces the need for high AC use, saving fuel during long drives.

Enhancing Privacy and Security on Your Road Trip with Tinted Glass

Aside from comfort, tinted glass also offers increased privacy and security. Tinted windows make it harder for people to see inside your vehicle, providing peace of mind when you make stops along the way. Whether it’s to take a break, grab a bite to eat, or check out a scenic view, knowing your belongings are less visible adds an extra layer of protection.

  • Privacy: Reduces the chances of opportunistic theft.

  • Security: Deters potential intruders by making it more difficult to see inside your car.

Improved Visibility with High-Quality Windshield Glass

A clear and undamaged windshield is essential for maintaining visibility and safety while driving, especially in unfamiliar areas or during bad weather conditions. AGD offers high-quality windshield glass that provides superior clarity, ensuring a safe and enjoyable trip. If your windshield has chips or cracks, it’s crucial to get it replaced before hitting the road to avoid further damage.

  • Enhanced Clarity: Superior visibility reduces eye strain during long drives.

  • Safety: Unobstructed views of the road help prevent accidents.

Energy Efficiency and Climate Control with Energy-Efficient Glass

For those looking to save on fuel and reduce their carbon footprint, energy-efficient glass can be a game-changer. This type of glass helps to keep the temperature inside your car more consistent, reducing the reliance on air conditioning and the need for excessive fuel consumption. It’s particularly useful during long road trips where climate control is key to staying comfortable.

  • Fuel Savings: Less reliance on air conditioning means reduced energy consumption.

  • Temperature Regulation: Helps maintain an even cabin temperature, reducing discomfort.

Investing in Road Trip Comfort with AGD’s Glass and Tinting Services

Upgrading your car’s glass and tint is an investment in your road trip comfort and safety. Whether you need to replace a damaged windshield, improve your car’s climate control, or enhance privacy, AGD offers expert services that ensure your vehicle is road-trip ready. Don’t hit the road without the comfort and protection that the right glass and tint can offer.

RV auto glass

Maintaining your RV auto glass is crucial for ensuring clear visibility and safety during travel. RVs face unique challenges, including long road trips and exposure to diverse weather conditions. Here are some essential tips to keep RV auto glass in top condition.

Tips for Maintaining Your RV Auto Glass

1. Regular Inspections

Frequent inspections of RV auto glass can help identify minor issues before they become major problems. Check for any chips, cracks, or scratches regularly. Early detection allows for timely repairs, preventing further damage and ensuring optimal visibility.

2. Clean with Care

Cleaning RV auto glass properly is vital to prevent damage and maintain clarity. Use a gentle, non-abrasive glass cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth to avoid scratching the glass. Avoid using ammonia-based cleaners, as they can deteriorate the rubber seals and tinting. For stubborn stains or residues, a mixture of vinegar and water can be effective.

3. Address Chips and Cracks Promptly

Even small chips or cracks can worsen over time due to the vibrations and impacts experienced during travel. Addressing these issues promptly can prevent them from spreading. Professional repair services can fill in chips and cracks, restoring the glass’s integrity and preventing the need for costly replacements.

4. Protect from Extreme Weather

Extreme weather conditions can take a toll on RV auto glass. During hot weather, the sun’s UV rays can cause the glass to expand and potentially lead to damage. In cold weather, the glass can contract, increasing the risk of cracks. Use protective covers when parked for extended periods and avoid sudden temperature changes, such as pouring hot water on a frozen windshield.

5. Check and Maintain Seals

The seals around RV windows and windshields are crucial for preventing leaks and maintaining structural integrity. Inspect these seals regularly for signs of wear or damage. If any seals appear compromised, replace them promptly to prevent water intrusion and further damage to the glass and surrounding areas.

6. Avoid High-Pressure Washers

While it might be tempting to use a high-pressure washer to clean your RV, it’s best to avoid this practice. High-pressure water can force its way into the seals and potentially cause damage to the auto glass. Stick to gentle cleaning methods and avoid directing water jets directly at the glass.

7. Store Properly

When not in use, store your RV in a covered or sheltered area to protect the auto glass from the elements. If indoor storage is not an option, consider using a protective cover that shields the vehicle from UV rays, rain, and debris.

Proper maintenance of RV auto glass ensures clear visibility, safety, and longevity of the glass. By following these tips, RV owners can enjoy a safer and more comfortable travel experience, free from the hassles of damaged or deteriorated auto glass.

RV window tint protects your skin and RV’s interior from harmful UV rays. It also prevents fading and deterioration of upholstery, curtains, and other interior furnishings.

3. Glare Reduction

Tint reduces glare, improves visibility, and makes driving safer. It is especially helpful for long drives on sunny days.

4. Enhanced Comfort for Extended Trips

RV window tint helps regulate the temperature inside an RV, keeping it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter for year-round comfort.

5. Preserve Your RV’s Value

Window tinting can help preserve the value of your RV by protecting the interior from sun damage and making it more appealing to potential buyers.

The RV Window Tint Process

Before RV window tint can be installed, you must first choose the right shade of tint to match your preferences and needs for privacy, heat rejection, and UV protection. Once you have made your shade selection, the next step is professional installation. Experienced technicians will ensure precise application for optimal tint performance and appearance.

window tintWe’ve all been there – squinting and trying to see clearly while driving but struggling to do so because the glare from the sun is just too intense. At certain times of the day, or when driving directly towards the sun, it can be impossible to see clearly while driving. And that is not only uncomfortable, it is downright dangerous. Nobody needs any extra distractions while driving, especially not ones that make it difficult to see. Fortunately, window tint can help reduce glare and make your driving experience safer and more comfortable.

There are many different types of window tint and ways to install it. While there are many benefits of installing new window tint (such as improving the appearance of your car, reducing heat gain which keeps your car’s interior cooler, and enhancing security), there is no greater benefit than the fact that it reduces glare while driving which improves your safety as well as the safety of passengers and other drivers and pedestrians.

When window tint is professionally installed, a thin layer of film is applied to your car’s windows which reduces the amount of light that enters your car. Window tint is available in a variety of materials and comes in different shades and colors.

As aforementioned, one of the main benefits of window tinting is its ability to reduce glare. When sunlight enters your car, it can reflect off different surfaces, such as the dashboard, mirrors, or even the road itself, creating a bright and distracting glare. Window tinting can help reduce this glare by blocking some of the sunlight from entering your car. This makes it easier to see the road and your surroundings, especially during sunny days, and at dawn or dusk when the sun is low on the horizon.

When it comes to window tinting, it’s important to choose a reputable and experienced company. Poorly installed window tint can bubble, peel, or discolor over time, reducing its effectiveness and potentially damaging your windows. At AGD, we use high-quality film and install it correctly, ensuring that you get the maximum benefits from your investment.

Every year on June 27th, we celebrate the unofficial holiday, “National Sunglasses Day”

shutterstock_181785998

Just as we use window tint to block the sun’s harmful UV Rays, sunglass do the same thing for your eyes!  There is that cool, mysterious look about someone in a nice pair of sunglasses.  So on June 27 each year we celebrate National Sunglass Day.  In celebration we highlight the top ten Sunglass styles that have stood the test of time:

1.  Prada model SPR07F

553036170

This model was best known for their appearance in the 1963 Academy Award winning movie 8 ½ . This model has evolved a lot since the 1960’s and is still very popular.  This is one of the few styles of sunglasses that can go with a suit or a swimsuit

2.  Persol 714

persol714side

Worn by Steve McQueen in the 1960’s these were the first folding sunglasses.  Made popular in the movie The Thomas Crown Affair these glasses were sold at auction for $70,000.  Maybe a less expensive pair would be more appropriate for National Sunglass Day!

3.  Ray-Ban 3138 Shooter

RB-3138-001-4A-2

Yellow aviator shooters were made famous when Johnny Depp wore them in the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.  There glasses were worn regularly by the author of the novel that inspired the film.  The shooters came in different color tints.

4.  Ray-Ban Wayfarers

Tom-Cruise-Risky-Business-Ray-Ban

These babies were instantly popular because they were made from revolutionary plastic frame.  Introduced in 1956 they were a distinct diversion from the metal-framed sunglasses of the time. Popularity slumped in the 70’s all the way until the late 2000’s when artists like Katy Perry and Bruno Mars wore them in music videos.

5.  Round and Oversized

jackie copy

Today simply know as Jackie O’s, these sunglasses were made popular by First Lady and fashion icon Jackie Kennedy.  Instantly known by their large round shape they are made to make a fashion statement when worn.

6.  Gold Rimmed Aviator

These sunglasses goes back to the 1930’s when US Army pilots were reporting glare from the sun was giving them headaches and altitude sickness.  A new sunglass lens was created by an American company (Bausch & Lomb) to reduce the glare.  Made with green lenses and plastic frames they were originally called “Anti-Glare”.  A year later they were made with metal frames and rebranded as “Aviators”

7.  The Clubmaster

805289653653_shad_fr

Ray-Ban introduced in the 1980’s when Bruce Willis worse a pair of brownline Shuron Ronsirs on the series Moonlighting.  They gained popularity very quickly and rose to the #3 best-selling sunglasses of the 1980’s.

8.  Oliver Peoples Gregory Peck

4496afb4b94ff004bc9bf7ea5a52733c

Made popular when Gregory Peck wore them in To Kill A Mockingbird in 1962 they have again became popular.  This is partly due to the reintroduction in 2011 when Oliver Peoples released a new model to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the novel that inspired the film.

9.  Oliver Goldsmith Manhattan

oliver-goldsmith-manhattan-sunglasses-caramel-split-4

Audrey Hepburn chose Oliver Goldsmiths Manhattans as her signature pair of sunglasses.  Made famous by Ms. Hepburn wearing them in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  They are still very popular today!

10.  Rose-Colored Glasses

Betsey-Johnson

A phrase that means to view the world in a perpetual optimistic, perhaps naïve, and unrealistic way.  Rose-Colored glasses give the wearer the care-free look.  Where the saying came from, some suggests that early mapmakers used rose petals to clean the lenses of the glasses.  The oils would protect the glass but would also stain and leave a rose-colored tint.

There you have the beautiful top 10 sunglasses!  As important to look and style to your eyes as window tint is to your vehicle.  Combine the two and you have a beautiful pair of protection from the sun’s harmful rays this summer.  The only question is .. which style do you prefer?

The most common type of Cancer found in the US is Skin Cancer. About 3.5 million cases of basal & squamous cell skin cancer are diagnosed in the United States every year. On the other hand, Melanoma, a more dangerous type of skin cancer, will make up more than 73,000 cases of skin cancer in 2015.  Those Statistics are Frightening.

shutterstock_85468885

RISK FACTORS FOR SKIN CANCER

  • Excessive Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation caused by the SUN
  • Pale skin (easily sunburned, doesn’t tan much or at all, natural red or blond hair)
  • You or members of your family have had skin cancers
  • Unusual or large moles
  • A History of Sunburn
  • Immune System that is Weak
  • Old Age
  • Exposure to large amounts of coal tar, paraffin, arsenic compounds, or certain types of oil

SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS OF SKIN CANCER

Most people and their doctors play important roles in the detection of skin cancer early on.   Symptoms and Early Warning signs may include:

  • A Change in the way the skin looks such as dryness, roughness or peeling
  • Non Healing Sores
  • Skin Color that spreads beyond its border, such as dark coloring that spreads past the edge of a mark or mole
  • Tenderness, Itchiness or even Pain
  • Any significant change in your skin. We all know our bodies well, so you should be able to detect if something seems just a little off.

PREVENTION

Avoiding exposure to direct sunlight and practicing sun safety is the best way to lower your risk of  Skin Cancer.  That does not mean you have to live your life indoors, nor even change much about your lifestyle.  It just takes a few simple modifications to help avoid this deadly disease:

  • The sun’s rays are the strongest between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Avoid exposure to the sun during those hours.
  • Be sure to follow the rules of Slip Slop Slap!
  • SLIP ON A SHIRT
  • SLOP ON SUNSCREEN
  • SLAP ON A HAT
  • Protect your eyes and the surrounding skin by wearing sunglasses with 100% UVA and UVB absorption
  • Sunscreen doesn’t protect from all UV rays, so don’t use sunscreen as a way to stay out in the sun longer.
  • Also make sure to follow the safe sun rules during cloudy days because sun can go right through the clouds..
  • Avoid Tanning beds and sun lamps. Not only are they dangerous, but they damage your skin and can cause cancer.
  • Last but not least, and because we spend so much time in our cars, getting your windows tinted is a phenomenal way to protect yourself from Skin Cancer.

Window Film has been proven to block at least 70% of the sun’s harmful rays that directly go through your windshield.  Many people in Arizona have their windows tinted for this specific reason, although the aesthetics are a great bonus!

Since not all Window Film is the same, you should make sure to use a qualified Autoglass Company when making all decisions about window tint.

AGD Auto Glass & Tint Co has been serving the automotive needs of customers in the entire state of Arizona since 2001.  We know what it takes to get the job done and we do it right, the very first time, no questions asked.
